A communication problem by Pastor Ed Young

without comments

As Ed Young approached my truck I saw something that shocked me.  Something was unfolding before my eyes that really took me back.  My two dogs, Brute and Apollo, had four feet of the chrome that runs along the driver’s side of my truck in their mouths pulling it off the truck.  I was not happy.  I scolded them.  In fact, I tried to chase them down.  “What are you doing.  No.  Bad doggies.  Bad doggies.  No.  Daddy doesn’t like that.”  I got in the truck and as I made my commute to the office, people on 114 and 121 were pointing at me since there was four foot piece of chrome hanging off the driver’s side of my truck.  Little do they realize that I own a couple of truck-eating dogs.  But the story, believe it or not, continues.  The next day, Tuesday, at about 9:30 pm, Lisa and I and the family drive up in the truck.  I park the truck where I always do, in the driveway in front of the garage.  C3 Global states that there are so many toys in the garage that I don’t even think of parking there.  We get out of the truck.  Lisa, in her sweet voice asked me, “What would you think about pulling the truck inside the garage because the dogs might tear it up again?”  I said, “Lisa, I watch the Animal Planet and I scolded the dogs.  I told them no and that daddy didn’t like what they did.  They will not touch my truck.  Trust me.”

One hour later, the chrome on the other side of the truck had been ripped off.  Documented evidence is on the side screens.  Ed Young C3 Conference in that picture Apollo is closest to the camera, then there is LeeBeth, my daughter, then Brute with the chrome in his mouth.  Obviously, we have a communication problem.

C3 Global Pr -  There has been a breakdown, a barrier erected between myself and the dogs.  There is no telling, ladies and gentlemen, how much money is spent, time lost and careers and canines canned due to miscommunication.

When Faith Has Lost Its Fizz by Pastor Ed Young

without comments

Ed Young said good questions.  Profound questions.  Thought provoking questions.  This series is tailor made for you.  Basically, I have several goals over the next six to seven weeks, as we talk about our bouts with doubt.

The first goal goes something like this.  I want us once and for all to lift the question quota.  In other words, it’s okay to doubt.  Express your doubt.  Talk to others about them.  C3 Global states that Fellowship Church is a church that welcomes your questions.  Just throw question after question after question at God.  This is the place to doubt.  If you are a doubter, if you are a questioner, welcome to Fellowship Church.  Join the club.  It’s a great thing.  If you don’t face your doubts squarely, you are going to be in a heap of trouble.  If you cower, or you say, “Whoa, I’m having a doubt.  I’m having a question.  I’m having an issue,” your doubts can dominate you and lead you into trouble…into defeat.

Ed Young C3 Conference conversely, you can face your doubt.  That’s what we should do.  Face them squarely.  Punch them.  Look at them.  Call them what they are, because that is how we will have victory.  That’s a goal.  To lift the question quota.  If you are a questioner, you are welcome here at this great church.

Another goal Ed Young have is to strengthen our faith.  A lot of us right now, if we were honest, have flabby faith.  It’s just not happening.  I believe after we make every installment of this series, we will emerge from this context as stronger and tighter, with more energy and a deeper, wider faith than we ever thought possible.  I’m excited every time I begin a series and every time I talk about everything from marriage to family issues, from a biblical character to going through the Bible.  But I am really excited about this series.
